Friends New
Year Off and Running
Hello,
My name is Susan Magee and I am the
newly-elected President of the Wilbraham Friends of the Library. I have
been active at the Library for many years:
served as a trustee for over sixteen years,
worked on many Friends' projects and the Memorial-Endowment Fund.
Under former President, Roger Schifferli,
membership in the Friends has grown and the group has expanded support of
programs and materials. I am honored to continue the WFL mission. Our aim is
to increase support to Wilbraham's very special library and its dedicated
staff.
To all WPL patrons: Please help the Friends
in their efforts by sharing with us your ideas and thoughts for future
programs or activities. To those patrons who are already members of the
Friends, a big “Thank You” and I hope to meet many of you personally as the
year’s activities get underway.
Salem MA Trip Almost Here
On Tuesday October 6th, we’ll be hosting a
foliage bus trip to scenic Salem - one of New England’s favorite coastal
attractions. Our group will visit the internationally acclaimed Peabody
Essex Museum, the Finz Restaurant & and the historic district of Salem.
Enjoy special guided tour of the Peabody Essex Museum and the renowned
Chinese House exhibit. This museum is filled with art, natural history,
nautical, ethnological and architectural collections begun in 1799 by Salem
merchants who sailed the world.
Midday we’ll dine at Finz Seafood and Grill Restaurant on Pickering Wharf
overlooking the harbor. As time permits, we’ll complete the afternoon by
either continuing to tour the museum or exploring the historic district with
its quaint shops, special attractions and harbor walk.

Fundraiser Off to a Great Start
Thanks go to the members of the Wilbraham
Art League for donating their handmade creations and Heidi Kane, Wilbraham
Art League and library staff member, for laminating the bookmarks. They're
on view at the circulation desk and are available for purchase at $1.00
each. All proceeds are donated to the Friends of the Library providing much
valued support for upcoming programs.
